2019 Dinner, Live Musical Performance, Language Exchange Mixer - Life of An Event Organizer
Hi everyone! Back in September in 2019, just a few days after my birthday, I organized a language exchange event at an awesome place! I loved the place so much! I even took a Japanese friend of mine, named Takeshi, there before he returned to Japan shortly after I organized this event as well. I plan to go back to this place again soon this year in 2020!
By the way, I know this post is very late, but after my birthday, so much happened and I had family visiting so I did not have time to go through the photos that I took and post them. Now that it is a new year, my family has returned home, so I will post photos from a lot of the events that I organized and special holiday dinners that I went to towards the end of last year over the next few days! I hope you all enjoy them!

As for today, I am excited to share with you all this awesome place that I went to after my birthday. I organized a small get together at a place called Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe. I chose this place because you can have dinner here, they have a bar, they have live musical performances on weekends, and it is also a bookstore. There is a little bit of everything in just this one place! The bookstore makes it a great place for language exchange too, so that is why I decided to organize a language exchange mixer here.
Kramerbooks is an ideal place for people of all ages because you can study, read, or hangout in the bookstore if you are a student or a teen. Adults and sports lovers can hangout in a separate room that has a nice size bar with TVs playing sports. You can also eat dinner and enjoy a live jazz performance in their big restaurant that has both indoor and outdoor seating.
Of course, since I organized this event, I arrived first, so I had time to explore the bookstore and read a book about Japan 🗾 for a bit before anyone arrived. When a friend arrived, we sat down and ordered food and drinks before the jazz performance started about an hour later.
The ambiance at Kramerbooks is one of its most notable features, but the food and drink options are just as awesome. For dinner, you can order a variety of dishes including salmon, crab cakes, nachos, chimichangas, chicken pot pie, lasagna, scallops, waffles, fried chicken, steak, burgers, sandwiches, ahi tuna, duck, fries, and vegetables like butternut squash and salad.
I ordered the cheddar waffle & fried chicken for dinner, and my friend ordered the Pow Pow Chicken with toasted peanuts, cilantro, and crispy meat; this dish was similar to Kung Pao Chicken, but it wasn't sweet like some Chinese food tends to be, and it had a very different unique flavor. I liked everything that I ate at the Kramerbooks restaurant, especially their fried chicken 🍗.
When I came back to Kramerbooks again with my friend Takeshi, I ordered the chicken pot pie. Takeshi ordered the Hanger Steak Gratin, which he absolutely loved! It was nice seeing Takeshi enjoy a meal like that before returning to Japan 😊.
For drinks, Kramerbooks has such unique amazing drinks, and there are a ton of them to choose from! They have over 20 craft beers, red and white wine, and some awesome specialty drinks. I ordered two of their specialty coffee alcoholic beverages: The Hot Scotch and the Toasted Almond. My friend ordered a red wine.
When I came back with Takeshi to Kramerbooks, I tried their Irish Dream specialty drink. I loved every drink that I had here! They were all so good! If you ever go to Kramerbooks, the drinks are a must try!
You can order everything from hot coffee alcoholic cocktails to shakes, smoothies, and ice cream drinks at Kramerbooks. You can buy drinks here made with everything from fresh basil, champagne, maple syrup, bitters, ginger beer, coffee liqueur, espresso, coffee and vanilla ice cream, amaretto, lemonade, orange juice, pineapple juice, Bailey's, butterscotch, hot chocolate, Irish cream, Kahlua, lemon, egg white, rosemary, fig, jalapenos, thyme, ginger, cucumber, mint, cider, pumpkin spice, to real fruit including peaches, strawberries, mangoes, and bananas.
After eating, my friend and I hopped around to different bars and clubs right near the restaurant for about 2 hours. We danced and talked a lot and really just had fun and enjoyed each other's company. As it got late, we called it a night and returned home.
I really had a lot of fun this night and I can't wait to go back to Kramerbooks again to see another live performance and to have some good food and drinks 😋! Yum!
